The OD Technician provides support to the Doctor of Optometry, and customer service to patients.
OD Technicians are responsible for checking all completed eyewear for quality and prescription accuracy.
They oversee the dispensing of all eyewear, contact lenses, and eyeglasses.
Properly fits eyewear on patients, and makes necessary adjustments.
Measure pupillary distance.
OD Technicians also pre-test patients, schedule appointments, answer phones, and sell contact lenses and back-up glasses.
Responsibilities:
Pretests patients, obtains patients' medical histories, completes noncontact tonometry, auto refraction, visual acuity, etc.
Schedules and confirms patients' appointments.
Greets patients, obtains insurance authorization and answers phones.
Neutralizes patients' Rx lenses.
Checks all completed eyewear for prescription accuracy and quality.
Troubleshoots and identifies prescription related problems.
Adheres to all state and local regulations regarding the dispensing, adjustment and measurements of prescription eyewear and contact lenses.
Maintains and updates patient charts as necessary.
Instructs patients on wearing schedule, insertion and removal of contact lenses.
Sells solutions, contact lenses, Manager's Specials and back up glasses.
Attains sales goals while complying with company and local policies and procedures.
Maintains and replenishes inventory as needed.
Compiles invoices and collects payment for services rendered.
Performs basic housekeeping and other duties as necessary.
Qualifications:
High school diploma required.
Optical training helpful, but not required.
Minimum of 1 year of optical or retail and customer service experienceStrong sales skills with a track record of beating sales goals.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to spend most of the day on your feet.
Flexibility/ability to work any open store hours.
Ability and drive to thrive in a fast paced environment with shifting priorities.
Attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and execute tasks efficiently.
Eligibility to work in the United States.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
